1. WHAT WE KNOW
On the 17th of November, 2016, What.cd was shut down. The following message was posted to the main website and the what.cd Twitter account:
>Due to some recent events, What.CD is shutting down. We are not likely to return any time soon in our current form.
>All site and user data has been destroyed. So long, and thanks for all the fish.
The domain and twitter account haven't been seized.
There was a raid on OVH by the french police which they claim seized 12 servers owned by What, but this hasn't been confirmed by staff yet. In any case, What.CD only hosted proxy servers on OVH - no user data was hosted at OVH at any point, as far as we know.
An IRC channel for What users has been set up at #what-refuge on irc.p2p-network.net
2. WHAT TO DO
First off, do NOT delete any torrent files you have. STOP your torrents, but DO NOT delete them, as they may be useful in any future efforts to rebuild What.
Do not delete stuff you downloaded, it can't really be used as incriminating evidence anyway (connection logs may be, but that was never something you could do much about -- IANAL).
Second of all, wait for more concrete information to appear, either in the IRC room, on Twitter or somewhere else. Various trackers and reddit have their own discussion threads going on.
If you're using Chrome, try using this program (http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/chrome_cache_view.html) to recover your cached profile page and take a screenshot of it, to prove your What membership, in case you want to use that to get into other communities.
3. CHANNEL RULES

* No sexism, racism, or otherwise being nasty
