      Critics Consensus

This animated anthology has enough creative Death to satisfy cyberpunk aficionados who Love their Robots to have some Heavy Metal influence, but the series' lofty ambitions are often undercut by a preoccupation with gore and titillation.

Raju Mudhar Toronto Star I did enjoy the majority of this, as it is high-quality animation that reflects a diverse groups of artists' visions and presents new stories that we haven't seen. Rated: 3/4 Dec 2, 2019 Full Review Charles Bramesco Little White Lies The general lack of sophistication cues up all manner of cute, situationally appropriate wordplay: they've got problems with faulty wiring, bugs to work out, glitches in the code. Apr 8, 2019 Full Review Graeme Virtue Guardian Taken as a whole, it is a sci-fi pot pourri that benefits from a dip-and-skip approach. Rated: 3/5 Mar 19, 2019 Full Review Neal Pollack Book & Film Globe Love, Death + Robots doesn't suffer from a poverty of visual imagination; it's visually memorable, even occasionally iconic. It simply lacks morality, in every way. Jan 30, 2020 Full Review Abby Robinson Digital Spy Admittedly, despite its box-fresh feel, we have seen a lot of the themes and big reveals before in various formats. Yet [David] Fincher and [Tim] Miller have excelled in making the series feel shiny and new. Dec 2, 2019 Full Review Matthew Dougherty The Filtered Lens This show is so macho it almost drowned me in its testosterone. Rated: C+ Dec 2, 2019 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member Lifted by stunning visuals and heavy but concise storytelling, Love Death + Robots is an engaging, entertaining ride for older audiences. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/19/24 Full Review Dave C INSANE±STORY-TELLING±AND±ANIMATION… What has happened in the world of animation is astounding! The level of attention to every detail is showcased so well in all styles and forms, in this collection of artistic devilry and beauty. Not what I had expected at all, but then it's Fincher and Miller, so what else should I have expected?! Lol. They masterfully orchestrate and deliver chillingly existential concepts, with subject matter ranging from the darkly fantastical to the outright dystopian, as well as gratuitous amounts of depravity (of course!) Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/26/24 Full Review Hadrian d Every single episode brimming with personality and great animating, some episodes were boring, however most of them were incredibly well made, a great watch. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 12/25/23 Full Review The R This show is what the animation industry has needed for a long time. Simply a love letter to animation. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/22/23 Full Review Michael Antony A Mikey's TV Review: Love Death + Robots (2019) An intriguing, visually arresting 17 minute tale packed with emotional weight, 'Good Hunting' might be my favourite Episode of LD+R, and a idea worth exploring over a stand alone series. How about it Netflix? There is no denying the talent involved in all of these animated tales - if only some of the stories themselves had a little more weight, even time to reach more satisfying conclusions. Most tales end abruptly without any explanation. As if each one is a 'pilot' or 'teaser' for its own series. There is also an overtly sexual, often unnecessary exploitive element on display (The Witness). Some characters have a stunning photo realism (Beyond The Aquila Rift, Lucky 13), while others retain a classic 2D hand drawn look (Zima Blue). There is nothing else like it steaming anywhere. It's both challenging, and beautiful / horrific to look at. Occasionally brutal (Shape-Shifters). Sometimes darkly funny (The Dump, Alternate Histories). And for fans of Anime, Sci-Fi and Horror, it's a must see. Mikey's TV Rating: 3/5* Rated 3 out of 5 stars 10/27/23 Full Review Wolfgang G Love, Death & Robots (stilisiert als LOVE DEATH + ROBOTS) ist eine Science-Fiction-Anthologie-Fernsehserie… Die Sendung zeigt eine diverse Sammlung an hochwertigen animierten Kurzgeschichten verschiedener Künstlergruppen unterschiedlicher Genres… Kurz gesagt, gute Geschichten in perfekten Bildern und manche mit vorzüglichem schwarzem Humor gewürzt… Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/20/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
