      2017 Comedy Crime List
98% 49 Reviews Tomatometer 90% 1,000+ Ratings Audience Score True-crime series are gaining popularity on TV so, of course, there was bound to be a satire of the genre. "American Vandal" takes a look at the aftermath of various high school pranks. Aspiring student documentarian Peter Maldonado takes it upon himself, with help from friend Sam Ecklund, to investigate the cases and find out exactly who is responsible for the crimes. After looking into vandalism at a public high school, Peter and Sam head to a Catholic school after the cafeteria's lemonade is contaminated with laxatives. In the style of the genre it lampoons, the series leaves viewers wondering who the real perpetrator is until the very end. Read More Read Less

Teddy B A complete and utter surprise of a series that has much more of an enthralling and engaging plot than the idea gives it any right to be. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 10/28/23 Full Review Raqib Z Amazing show. The suspense, the thrills, loved all of it so much. The way they investigated, interrogated, absolutely wonderful. It sucks that Netflix cancelled the show after 2 seasons. I really wish there were more to this mind-blowing mockumentary. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/19/23 Full Review London H Very entertaining you should definitely give this a watch Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/18/23 Full Review S H I'm generally not someone who's into juvenile humor, but I was absolutely invested in figuring out who drew those dicks. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/12/23 Full Review Lukas-Jeremie K "American Vandal" is a mockumentary that tells two different stories in it's two seasons. In both seasons the two students Peter and Sam make it their mission, to find the perpetrator, film their investigations and produce a documentary out of that. In the process of producing this documentaries the students get to know many secrets among the students. "American Vanadal" is a series that you can watch, but you definitely don't have to. The idea is interesting, but doesn't arouse my interest for more seasons. With the hours I've spent trying to figure out who drew penises on cars or put laxatives in school lunches, there's no doubt I could have done better things. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 04/09/23 Full Review Jaminowy G One of my fav mockuments all time Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/13/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Brandon Katz Observer In its own unique way, the show crystallized what it's like to be young in the social media age. Jun 14, 2018 Full Review Amanda Petrusich New Yorker American Vandal can be a brutal indictment of how the culture codifies and institutionalizes narrative. We hunger for conclusions, especially when there aren't any good ones. Dec 26, 2017 Full Review Phoebe Reilly Rolling Stone It's hilarious and, somehow, quietly heartbreaking. Dec 14, 2017 Full Review Nathan Mattise Ars Technica Calling American Vandal a mere parody of the blossoming true-crime style sells this eight-episode series way, way short. Jul 28, 2021 Full Review Alberto Carlos Espinof Not only is it a series that has understood the genre of true crime, but it has also perfected it. [Full Review in Spanish] Aug 12, 2019 Full Review Morgan Jeffery Digital Spy The end result is something funny, sad and compelling. Dec 3, 2018 Full Review Read all reviews
