T T It is an interesting and watchable movie. The main problem with it is that it was stretched too long and became repetitive and boring after a while. The director could have easily shaved off 20-30 minutes from this 100 minute movie without affecting it. The concept itself was creative, but the acting was just average. The cinematography was good. Although mostly predictable, there were a couple of good plot twists and turns. Overall, it's ok. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/05/23 Full Review Audience Member Annoying characters. Not a lot of tension, but a few good ideas. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/11/23 Full Review dave l The ideas this creative piece aimed for failed to ever mature. The plot was definitely interesting. The acting by the two leads quite good. The cinematography and set dressings were evocative and interesting. I wanted to like it more than I did and wish it had held together better as it progressed. The twists were predictable, sadly, as was the ending. I cannot say it failed…nor can I say it succeeded. It was a film that never really became tedious yet it ultimately proved to be a fence sitter. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review john b Pretty cool concept, the accent's were bit inconsistent and distracting but the over all story kept me interested. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member An excellent idea, executed pretty well, with some crazy plot twists thrown in for good measure. A definite must watch from me, especially if you're after something non-linear and somewhat thought provoking and you understand the almighty issue of the human condition to 'just keep wanting'... Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/15/23 Full Review Audience Member You need to accept too many bad explained premises to believe it is realistic. This fabulation would fit more in a tale than in a movie, although some expertiments with the visual work are interesting. Ryan Lattanzio indieWire While the film suffers from a screenplay as delusional as its characters, this thriller serves up some potent images and a juicy premise. Rated: C+ Jul 21, 2020 Full Review Miguel Romero Fernández Cinemanía (Spain) [Olga Kurylenko and Kevin Janssens] blend together seamlessly into a matchless framework on human nature. [Full review in Spanish] Rated: 3.5/5 Sep 29, 2020 Full Review Shannon McGrew Nightmarish Conjurings The Room features a unique premise that evolves into an unsettling trap that's hard to escape from. Rated: 3/5 Jul 21, 2020 Full Review Douglas Davidson Elements of Madness With each rising action, The Room creates new opportunities for something deep and ethically interesting. Vexingly, all of this is squandered at nearly every turn. Rated: 2/5 Jul 14, 2020 Full Review Caitlin Kennedy Daily Dead In spite of its messy third act, The Room is not a lost cause. What it does well, it does really well, and the trapped concept makes it a perfect watch on one of these lonely evenings in. It comes with a soft recommendation. Rated: 3/5 Jun 25, 2020 Full Review Tim Brennan About Boulder The Room has a couple of jump scares, but it leans closer to psychological horror in the first two acts. The third act features clever camera trickery and some trippy imagery while remaining rooted in character. Apr 26, 2020 Full Review Read all reviews
