      What to Know

      Critics Consensus

The Miracle Season has a worthy real-life story to tell, but one-dimensional characters and aggressively maudlin storytelling undercut any emotional uplift.

Debi D This was a truly amazing and touching movie. I am still crying Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/09/24 Full Review Jay M Lovely movie... Too bad William Hurt is no longer with us. Such a great actor, and his performance here is no exception! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/25/23 Full Review Lanfranco C A true and sweet story. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 10/20/23 Full Review Audience Member I’ve seen a lot of truth to life stories. This has got to be one of the better ones really sad at times make you laugh at others times get your heart pumping at the action. Yes I will highly recommend this one James Welch, Henderson, Arkansas October 11, 2023. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 10/11/23 Full Review Jerod S Family sized true story of a high school volleyball player that was tragically killed. Helen Hunt leads the grieving team back to another state title. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 05/14/23 Full Review Audience Member People say this movie is too emotional but the people that the movie is about have said the real story was even more dramatic than the movie. It's sad that critics especially do not like movies like this. They like dysfunction, sex & violence and messed up people. This movie won't give you that. It will touch you, inspire you and make you feel extreme loss & how to overcome it. Caroline Found's story is amazing. HBO real sports did a great story on the Found's and the strength of Dr. Found is inspiring after losing both Line & his wife of pancreatic cancer within 2 weeks of each other. In todays world where many kids are treated like mini adults, it was refreshing to see a true story of Midwestern values and love and acceptance that even 11 years later is still touching people. Their FB page still gets hits and letters sent to the coach and the foundation which is still going strong today. I watch it at least once a year. J. R. Jones Chicago Reader You want emotion? See if you can handle this inspirational sports drama, whose every scene is calculated to make young hearts explode. Mar 5, 2020 Full Review Katie Walsh Los Angeles Times The Miracle Season is pleasantly swift, but in a quest for ruthless efficiency, a few character beats are skipped. Apr 10, 2018 Full Review Glenn Kenny RogerEbert.com This movie goes for the heartstrings and tear ducts more than the sports-conscious. The results are pretty mixed. Rated: 2.5/4 Apr 6, 2018 Full Review Hosea Rupprecht Catholic News Service In the end, nonetheless, this salute to Line's legacy offers uplifting entertainment suitable for a broad audience. Aug 12, 2021 Full Review Richard Propes TheIndependentCritic.com This is the kind of film that deserves an audience. Rated: 3.5/4.0 Sep 16, 2020 Full Review Steven Prokopy Third Coast Review It's really easy to wonder why the filmmakers didn't attempt a well-structured documentary rather than crank up every manipulative, overly sentimental dial in their arsenal to give us a beat-for-beat re-enactment of what is clearly a heartfelt story.
