Very cool folk tale from the Basque region in Spain taking place in the 1830's. This is a folk tale, so it's not meant for gore or cheap jump scares and meaningless horror. Enjoy this mythical and entertaining story.

Errementari, auch bekannt als „Der Schmied und der Teufel" , ist ein Fantasy - Horrorfilm in baskischer Sprache, der von Paul Urkijo Alijo inszeniert und von Alijo und Asier Guerricaechebarría geschrieben wurde. Die Geschichte basiert auf der gleichnamigen baskischen Legende, die von Pater Joxemiel Barandiaran gesammelt wurde… . Ja Errementari ist buchstäblich ein märchenhafter Film, ja im allen. Paul Urkijo Alijo hat ihn mit guten Schausielern fantastisch inszeniert. Voll mit herrlichen Bildern, ein lob für die Ausstattung, Kostümen, Masken… und mit der unterstützenden Musik von Pascal Gaigne. Errementari ist ein sehenswerter Film, der uns eitauchen lässt in die Welt von Legenden und Märchen.

WOW...what an imaginative sleeper (Netflix actually managed to strike it rich with this one)...! ERREMENTARI: THE BLACKSMITH AND THE DEVIL is a simple, but fantastic, story/screenplay with excellent casting, direction, acting, photography and production from Spain...!!! Uma Bracaglia as the little girl, Usue, and Eneko Sagardoy Mujika as the demon, Sartael, are completely captivating. Some categorize this as horror, but it's practically a fantasy/fairytale that's loads of fun to watch.

As someone who can't keep their attention long on most movies I have to say the Basque language was beautiful to listen to while reading the subtitles to a great story. I thought the costumes were pretty great for what they were. To me, it's a classic I will repeat watch on occasion.

Rather than hot pokers and knives, this duo use bells and chickpeas. That's right, this film is so good that it makes chickpeas scary! So much so that you may very well feel some sympathy for the devil.
