Sue Very interesting true story, fine actors Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/16/22 Full Review Nawt W Giving as little historical context as humanly possible, the movie expects you to nod along with a condensed string of sentimental stories from witnesses, while its main character gains more and more confidence that they can emerge victorious from this. The prevailing ambiance of the era at the time is confidently portrayed. The dialogue strikes a balance between humor and drama without diminishing either of those, and that's good news because the speeches in this movie are long yet poignant. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/07/24 Full Review Alec B Overlong but I like how it uses the legal thriller conventions in conjunction with real history. Un must. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/06/24 Full Review Laura S Viewer will probably benefit if they are somewhat familiar with the premise of the story, because going in cold, it was somewhat confusing. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/03/24 Full Review acsdoug D My knowledge of the Argentinian military junta of the '70s was limited to the Falklands War and "Las Madres de los Desaparecidos." Not only did this film teach me more about that period of Argentina's history, it did so in a compelling courtroom drama that is both superbly scripted and superbly acted. It's well worth a watch. Namrata Joshi The New Indian Express My only grudge is that the English dubbed version leaves the film curiously disembodied, shorn of an all-out heft and impact. It would have packed in a wallop and been better heard, understood, and heeded if it spoke in its forceful original language... Rated: 3.5/4 Oct 4, 2022 Full Review Nicolás Medina Montevideo Portal / Latido Beat Argentina, 1985 is what it has to be, a functional story of an extremely important historical event for the world and for Latin American history, which manages to move all the necessary fibers in any human being. Nov 16, 2023 Full Review Stephanie Bunbury Deadline Hollywood Daily It doesn’t only draw a line under the dictatorship, claiming Argentina for democracy, although it does that too. Above all, it is a bold declaration of the rights of human beings everywhere. It is also brilliant cinema. Sep 26, 2023 Full Review Read all reviews
