Giving as little historical context as humanly possible, the movie expects you to nod along with a condensed string of sentimental stories from witnesses, while its main character gains more and more confidence that they can emerge victorious from this. The prevailing ambiance of the era at the time is confidently portrayed. The dialogue strikes a balance between humor and drama without diminishing either of those, and that's good news because the speeches in this movie are long yet poignant.

Estupenda película sobre la transición de la dictadura militar a la democracia en Argentina, encuadrando la coyuntura en un juicio civil en qué se juzga a militares por las sangrientas acciones de las juntas durante este periodo de la historia argentina. Ricardo Darín como siempre destacada actuación dándole un plus al ya de por sí gran filme. Un must.

My knowledge of the Argentinian military junta of the '70s was limited to the Falklands War and "Las Madres de los Desaparecidos." Not only did this film teach me more about that period of Argentina's history, it did so in a compelling courtroom drama that is both superbly scripted and superbly acted. It's well worth a watch.
