      What to Know

      Critics Consensus

The power of Here Comes the Devil's atmospheric dread compels, but the plot and mystery are too muddled to leave a lasting impression.

Ritchie D I enjoyed the movie you have to give it up to the whole crew for doing what they could to bring art the clown to life. I find the character to be unique and just a complete maniac. The only thing I'd like to see in the future is a better story line and more connections with the victims. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 08/18/22 Full Review joe m Engaging, slow burn horror/suspense film from Mexico about two siblings that get lost over night and when they come back they're kind of off - way off. Not really that original yet it does keep you engaged as to what the parents will do to help their children. Average. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review robert p A very low budget film, with a pretty good Posession of the kids by dark dead influences makes this worthy of a *3* star Movie. At first I thought this was a Mexican semi-porno film, but I soon realized it was just a very low budget film!!! Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Jerry O Worth seeing at least once, English subtitles don't detract from the movie at all. Some of the plot points are a bit cluttered or not clear, however it's worth one view for fans of horror. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 06/14/19 Full Review Audience Member Surprised by the weak reviews. This movie is a masterpiece in the vein of 70s satan/cult flicks. Stays with you long after the movie is over. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/02/23 Full Review Audience Member Dubbed (spanish). Not scary at all and seemed like a low budget indie. The story was meh with a minor twist at the end. Def'ly wouldn't recommend to anyone. Peter Howell Toronto Star An auteur like Carlos Reygadas would have taken this in a worthwhile direction, and he did something like this with his significantly artier film Post Tenebras Lux. Rated: 2/4 Feb 13, 2014 Full Review Jen Chaney RogerEbert.com "Here Comes the Devil" is a horror movie. The problem is that writer-director Adrin Garca Bogliano can't decide what kind of horror movie he wants it to be. Rated: 1/4 Dec 13, 2013 Full Review Jeannette Catsoulis New York Times A muddled supernatural thriller that fails to capitalize on either its horrific prologue or eerie location. Dec 12, 2013 Full Review Patrick Cavanaugh The Wolfman Cometh Borrows a number of elements from other creepy kid stories and reinvents and revives them in fresh ways, thanks in large part to the atmospheric dread being felt throughout. Rated: 4/5 Sep 20, 2023 Full Review Nicholas Bell IONCINEMA.com Bogliano, at last, manages to show remarkable restraint in the proceedings, with Here Comes the Devil recalling some great genre art house efforts from decades past. Aug 29, 2019 Full Review C.J. Prince Way Too Indie Here Comes The Devil may be awful a lot of the time, yet I can't deny its power at keeping me invested throughout.
