The 9th Life of Louis Drax is intriguing and visually compelling, but its disparate parts are never truly woven into a satisfying whole.

Petra S Haven't read the book so didn't know what to expect. Enjoyed it very much, love that story, intense at times and full of unexpected turns, especially the end! Jamie Dornan and Aiden Longworth were both amazing! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/02/24 Full Review Georgan G As it neared the end I figured out what was happening. The acting & visuals were absolutely moving. Don't know why others didn't like this film. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 06/24/23 Full Review chris Very interesting movie, well acted with some very good actors. Molly Parker's role reminded me of Olivia Williams part in Sabotage 2014 this is a compliment on my part. ❤ Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/18/23 Full Review Pam L Love Jamie Dornan but this one was hard to follow. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/12/23 Full Review Landon J Mix up a Criminal Minds episode with a bad Stephen King supernatural novel and then sprinkle nauseous romance all over it - you get The 9th Life of Louis Drax. Louis is a jackass of a kid, the doctor is a dirtbag and the mother is a whacky whore. They are all horrible people in this story so i guess it gave me that. Hatred for the character's and rooting for a bad ending. But it was boring most of the way Rated 1 out of 5 stars 12/15/20 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Kevin Maher Times (UK) The film promises a fabulous twist that never comes, and delivers instead some cutesy magical realist touches (lots of interior boy brain stuff) and a palpable lack of chemistry between Dornan and Gadon. Rated: 2/5 Oct 10, 2016 Full Review Tasha Robinson The Verge Louis Drax shoves magic and monsters into a story that's already overpacked with grindhouse violence, a police procedural, a queasy romance, and incoherent social commentary. Sep 7, 2016 Full Review Wendy Ide Observer (UK) [An] odd, intriguing film ... Rated: 4/5 Sep 4, 2016 Full Review Richard Crouse Richard Crouse A handsome film that feels like Guillermo Del Toro Lite. Aja's film isn't quite as deep or magical as it thinks it is, but it's a nice, mostly entertaining adaptation of a complex novel. Rated: 3/5 Mar 1, 2021 Full Review Jorge Loser Espinof The aesthetics of a television melodrama, a pastiche that wants to be more ingenious than it really can. [Full Review in Spanish] Aug 20, 2019 Full Review Sean Mulvihill FanboyNation.com There was potential for The 9th Life of Louis Drax to be something more than it is, but it just holds itself back in so many different ways.
