In modern, rural Ireland, Connell and Marianne, on different ends of their school's social scene, begin an intense, secret affair. 

In a school in small-town west of Ireland, Connell is a well-liked, good looking and athletic student. Marianne is a proud, intimidating and unpopular loner who actively avoids her classmates and questions her teachers' authority. An attraction sparks between them when Connell comes to collect his mother Lorraine who works at Marianne's house. A deep connection grows between the two teenagers that they are determined to conceal from their peers.

I really don't know how I ended up finishing up

this first episode of

Normal People.

Somehow

I just got pulled into it

by the powers that be.

I hope that it was worth the effort,

that there are

enough people

who can appreciate

the current state of affairs

that this drama touches on,

as it seemed to have

definitely done that.

And as far as yours truly is concerned,

there is

unequivocally

some worthy artistic

achievements in there

somewhere,

which is precisely why

this one came to be.
